Most classes are presented at Harrison Silverdale.

Pregnancy Essentials
This class provides helpful information on what to expect during pregnancy. You’ll learn about changes in your own body, proper nutrition, and healthful lifestyle choices. You’ll practice hands-on massage techniques, as well as relaxation skills to help reduce stress. Instructors include licensed massage and physical therapists. Enrollment is limited to 12 couples.

Birth Basics

Childbirth Express
Experience a personalized journey through prepared childbirth with a self-paced introduction followed by two sessions with an ICCE childbirth educator. Conversations focus on labor, pain management, and relaxation skills. You also will discuss ways you can mentally prepare for the unexpected. (Free DVD and book with registration.)

Birth & Beyond
For the second half of your pregnancy, you will focus on labor, birth, and recovery, with a special emphasis on breathing, relaxation, and pain control options. And if you’re a first-time mom, you’ll also appreciate learning how to adapt to life with a newborn.

Newborn Essentials
Build your confidence with hands-on practice using infant dolls. Learn the basics of diapering, dressing, and feeding so that you are prepared when your baby arrives. Our expert instructors will help you with strategies to soothe a crying baby. There will be time to discuss your questions and concerns. As part of this class, you will receive Internet access to in-depth information on newborn care that you can peruse in the comfort of your own home. This is an excellent class for first-time parents and care providers.

Breastfeeding: Getting Started & Staying Latched
Nature’s oldest means of nourishing baby offers benefits for baby and mom. This two-hour class offers essential information, including tips for getting started and where to turn for support. Led by a certified lactation specialist, this course allows plenty of time for individual questions.

Kangaroo Kapers

A new baby in the family means adjustments for everyone, even siblings-to-be. This free one-hour class—sponsored by the Dr. Maurice S. Mathis Guild—will help prepare children ages 2 through 6 for the arrival of a new brother or sister. A tour of our Women’s & Children’s Center is included.

Infant CPR Anytime (self-instruction kit)
This personal learning program, developed in coordination with the American Heart Association, is a self-directed activity kit that allows families, friends, grandparents, siblings, and others caring for infants to learn the core skills of infant CPR and relief of choking in just 22 minutes. Each kit contains: A personal, inflatable Mini-Baby™ CPR learning manikin, CPR skills practice DVD, Fold-out Quick Reference Guides, Sanitizing wipes and a replacement lung for the Mini-Baby™ manikin, and other program accessories.

This is a self-directed program for families to complete at home at their convenience. The Infant CPR Anytime kit is part of class packages and not available for separate purchase.

Confirmation
You will receive a class registration confirmation from Harrison Medical Center’s Organizational Development department by mail or email about 10 days before your first class.

Refunds
Individual class payments and package payments are non-refundable after the first class is completed. Withdrawal before the first scheduled class entitles you to a full refund.

Inclement Weather
Please be safe. Severe weather conditions such as ice or snow will cause classes to be canceled.
