Kitsap Health Priorities

Harrison Medical Center, in partnership with Kitsap Public Health District and United Way of Kitsap County, created the Kitsap Community Health Priorities (KCHP) in 2010 to better serve the community. The priorities identified by this effort help Harrison to plan for future healthcare investments in our community.

Objectives of the KCHP Plan include:

  • Collection and review of data to assess community health status and health-related issues in the community
  • Establishment of community-wide health priorities in order to address them in an efficient and coordinated manner
  • Joint efforts to implement changes to improve community health

The Community Health Priorities in Kitsap County as identified in this project are:

  • Make it easy for all residents to be physically active
  • Ensure all residents have healthier food options
  • Ensure access to affordable medical, behavioral health, and dental care for all residents
  • Promote economic development that provides living wage jobs with benefits (Kitsap Economic Development Alliance now leads this effort, where Scott Bosch serves on the board of directors)
  • Ensure children and youth receive the necessary support to be healthy throughout life
