Safe Kids during Sport and Play

Helmet CheckSafe Kids during Sport and Play

  • Before playing sports, make sure your child receives a pre-participation physical exam, or PPE, by a doctor. This can help rule out any potential medical conditions that may place your young athlete at risk.
  • Encourage children to stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water before, during, and after play.
  • Encourage children to stretch before practice and games to help prevent sports-related injuries, such as muscle tears or sprains.
  • Insist your child wear a poperly-fit helmet on every bike, scooter, and skateboard ride.

Where can I get a custom-fit bike helmet?

Wearers must be present for the custom fit. Most agencies welcome donations of $8 to cover the cost of the helmets.
