When labor starts, you want to focus on what’s most important—you and your baby.

With the Stork Express preadmission program at Harrison Silverdale, you can take care of most of the necessary paperwork, permits, and questions before your delivery! Appointments are usually scheduled during your eighth month of pregnancy, or approximately 30 days before your due date.

What to bring to your appointment:

  1. insurance cards
  2. medical coupons
  3. living will or durable power of attorney documents
  4. immunization history
  5. list of allergies to drugs or foods
  6. birth plan
  7. picture ID

Paperwork first
As part of your visit, we will verify your correct billing information and complete the consent forms for hospital care, anesthesia, delivery, and any other planned procedures. You will also have a chance to read—and if necessary—have our staff explain your rights and responsibilities as a patient.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment. Enter the Women’s & Children’s Center through the east entrance of the campus, directly off Ridgetop Boulevard.

The Stork Express nurse
Next you’ll meet with a Labor & Delivery nurse. During this meeting the nurse will:

  1. ask you who you have selected to be the care provider for your baby. This may be a clinic, pediatrician, family practice doctor, or nurse practitioner.
  2. ask about your medical history
  3. share helpful information about what to do before and after your baby’s birth
  4. answer any questions you may have; this is a good time to be sure you feel prepared for your labor and delivery

Tour Labor & Delivery
Finally, if you haven’t already toured the Labor & Delivery department of the Women’s & Children’s Center through your prenatal classes, our staff will show you around. Please understand that this may not always be possible, due to patient-care demands.
