Support Services

Complete cancer care

Harrison’s cancer program has one of the highest success rates in the region. Our team includes specialists from various support services. They work closely with clinical team members to ensure that you have the best cancer care available today. To us, you’re family.

Each team member tailors their services to meet your individual needs. Services include:

Harrison’s social workers

We know that cancer brings up different types of concerns, not only physical ones. Harrison social workers, several with master’s degrees, have many years of experience in cancer care. They help you and your family manage multiple aspects of your diagnosis:

  • Finances
  • Emotions
  • Problem solving
  • Where to get help
  • How to cope

Maybe you and your doctor decide that skilled care, such as nursing or physical therapy, is what you need. Our social workers can assist you with the process. Social workers are also available through Harrison Home Health.

Financial counseling services

Sometimes your finances don’t match your needs during cancer. We understand how this can affect your family. Our social workers can help you apply for financial assistance so you can stay focused on health. When you’re ready, we’re happy to talk with you and your family about your situation. We can even find the right agency to address your financial needs. If you need help with the application, we’ll do that, too.

Psychosocial counseling services

Harrison social workers also make life easier as you face various practical matters and emotions. We’ll work with you to find solutions and learn coping methods. Some people seek our services when they first hear about their diagnosis, while others wait until their treatment begins. You have access to our social work services throughout your cancer care.

  • Grief counseling
  • Hospice help
  • Advance directives
  • Attention to family needs
  • Cancer support groups
  • Home medical equipment
  • Communication with providers

At Harrison, we don’t forget you once you leave. A social worker calls to make sure you’re getting the services you need.
