Palliative Care

Care and Caring at End-of-Life

Launched in October of 2009, our palliative care program offers specialized medical care for patients with life-limiting illness, focusing on providing patients’ relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of living with illness—improving quality of life, whatever the diagnosis. Patients can continue to receive curative treatment and with the support of the palliative care team, can regain control and make decisions about their care throughout the course of their illness.

And now, Harrison Palliative Care, with the support of Franciscan Hospice, will offer inpatient hospice services at Harrison Bremerton. This addition will complement the existing inpatient Palliative Care program and provide much-needed inpatient care for our most fragile hospice patients. Harrison’s Palliative Care team will work with Franciscan Hospice to identify patients who may benefit from hospice resources when end-of-life measures are deemed necessary or may already be in place. Keeping these patients at Harrison will allow for less interruption in care and will foster continuation of services already provided by the Palliative Care team.

Harrison Foundation has been raising funds and awareness for the Palliative Care Program which will now support both Hospice and Palliative Care program needs at Harrison.
